I appreciate your detailed coverage of local politics, and take your articles into account when I’m forming my opinions on local races. It was especially interesting to read your article about who’s behind the various PAC contributions to this year’s race. While it’s clear that one side has a huge advantage and that this is appropriate to question, I noticed that the Santa Clara Weekly is a contributor to the PAC whose candidates your articles tend to favor. It would raise eyebrows for an individual in a newspaper to contribute to a PAC, and becomes a serious ethical question if they actually report on that election. But for a newspaper that actively covers a local election to be contributing to a PAC with a stake in that election almost certainly crosses the line.
